FOOD WEB MAZE — Trophic Levels & Energy Flow — HOW TO USE

Thank you for downloading this free resource! Here is everything
in your folder and how to use it.

WHAT STUDENTS DO
------------------------------------------------------------
Each box gives a clue. Students name the term, then follow the path
labeled with their answer. A wrong answer leads to a dead end, so the
maze checks itself. Only the correct route reaches FINISHED.
Correct path (energy flow):
Producer -> Primary consumer -> Secondary consumer ->
Tertiary consumer -> Apex predator -> Decomposer -> FINISHED.
Teaching note: the decoys target classic mix-ups -- decomposer vs
detritivore vs scavenger, apex predator vs keystone species, and
  predator vs parasite vs omnivore.

WHAT'S IN THIS FOLDER

Ecology_Maze_Printable.pdf
Page 1 = student maze (print and go).
Page 2 = full answer key (correct path in green, decoys in pink).
Page 3 = where to go next (related resources — no need to print for students).

Ecology_Maze_Interactive.html
A self-grading online version. Open in any browser, or post it to
Google Classroom, Canvas, or Schoology. Students type the term for
each box and travel the labeled path. No login or account.
Common synonyms are accepted in the interactive.

Go_Digital_QR_Page.pdf
A "go digital" insert with a QR code + link to the interactive
version. Project it or hand it out so students can open the maze
    on phones, tablets, and Chromebooks.

editable_svg/
The maze, key, and QR page as SVG files. Open in Inkscape,
Illustrator, or a browser to recolor or adjust.

CLASSROOM USES
------------------------------------------------------------
Introductory practice · review or test prep · a station ·
partner work · homework · a bell-ringer · a sub plan ·
early-finisher activity.

A NOTE ON THE INTERACTIVE
------------------------------------------------------------
As with any maze of this type, a student making the right wrong
guesses can occasionally fluke to the end. The answer key (and the
interactive's end-of-route check) is the source of truth.
